Questions people ask

Frequently asked questions about Gold

What you can do with this price, and when.

Can I see the Gold price this weekend?

Yes — the price at the top of this page keeps updating all week. It comes from xyz:GOLD on Hyperliquid, a contract that follows Gold around the clock. Official benchmark prices are published separately, on their own schedule.

Where can I trade Gold right now?

xyz:GOLD on Hyperliquid — open right now. Opening an account and funding it is the only step between you and an order. Open a Hyperliquid account →

Is the Gold value here physical gold or a COMEX futures price?

Neither. It is a perpetual contract that follows the gold price, so you get the price exposure without a COMEX delivery obligation or the cost of storing bars. The LBMA fix and dealer coin prices are set separately.

What do I need before I can place a Gold order?

An account on the exchange above, and a USDC balance — a stablecoin worth about one dollar. Hyperliquid trades from a crypto wallet you control, so there is no application to wait on.

How much do I need, and do I have to use leverage on Gold?

No. Size a position at 1x and it moves dollar for dollar with Gold. Higher leverage multiplies the move in both directions and can have the position closed automatically if the price runs against you; the exchange shows that liquidation price before you confirm the order, and the minimum size is small enough to test with.

Why does the Gold price move on Saturday and Sunday?

Because these exchanges never close. News lands at all hours and the weekend market prices it in straight away, while the benchmark market waits until it reopens.

Why does this differ from the Gold price I see elsewhere?

Different products, different markets. These contracts have their own buyers and sellers, so the price can sit slightly either side of the reference. Check which product and which timestamp you are comparing.

What exactly am I trading here?

A perpetual future that follows Gold. It gives you the price exposure without physical gold, and you can size the position with or without leverage. Read the risk disclosure →

About the gold price

Gold is the most-traded precious metal, priced per troy ounce in U.S. dollars. Reference prices come from London over-the-counter dealing and COMEX futures in New York, which between them anchor most of the world’s bullion, ETF, and jewelry pricing.

Those reference markets keep business hours: COMEX gold futures pause nightly and close for the weekend, and the LBMA auctions run twice each London business day. The price shown here comes from a 24/7 gold-linked contract instead, so it keeps updating through weekends and holidays. It is a venue price, not an LBMA benchmark or COMEX settlement.
