Weekend trading guide
Can you trade stocks on weekends?
Official U.S. exchange-listed shares do not normally trade on Saturday. Some venues offer separate 24/7 derivatives linked to stocks, while some brokers offer extended or overnight sessions during the trading week.
Three products people often confuse
A share is part-ownership of a company. An overnight session is your broker trading those same real shares outside normal hours. A stock-linked perpetual is a separate contract on a crypto venue, with its own price, leverage and liquidation rules.
What the price on this site means
Every price here names its venue and contract. None of them is the Nasdaq or NYSE share price.
Why weekend prices can diverge
News, concentrated order flow, wider spreads, and venue-specific pricing can move a perpetual away from the previous official share close.
Where our weekend prices come from: Hyperliquid
Every live price on this site comes from Hyperliquid, the largest decentralized derivatives exchange. It runs on its own purpose-built blockchain with a fully on-chain order book, so every quote you see here traces back to real orders that anyone can inspect — not to a private data feed.
Hyperliquid regularly clears billions of dollars in daily volume and handles the majority of all on-chain perpetuals trading. Its xyz market list extends that engine to stocks, gold, oil and equity indices: contracts that follow those prices around the clock, quoted in USDC, a stablecoin worth about one dollar.
Three things make it a good fit for weekend markets:
- It never closes. The order book runs 24/7, including Saturday and Sunday, so there is a live, tradable price when the exchange has none.
- No account application. You trade from a crypto wallet you control. There is no signup form or approval wait — connect, deposit USDC, trade.
- Transparent pricing. Order book, funding, and open interest are public chain data. We read the same numbers any trader sees.
These contracts are still leveraged derivatives with their own risks — prices can move fast and leverage can liquidate a position. Size at 1x and it simply tracks the price, dollar for dollar.
